9: The Road Back

The hero turns toward home or toward the larger world that must now be addressed. The Road Back is often turbulent: enemies regroup, consequences arrive, and the cost of the hero’s new position becomes clear. The journey is not over just because the reward was found.

This stage bridges the Special World and the return, showing how the hero’s hard-won change will collide with reality.
